Experience a slice of history at Sun City Holidays: with only minimal alterations, the holiday homes are original architect designed holiday homes intended for retirement and holiday makers as an integral part of Alan Bond's 1970s vision for Yanchep Sun City.

In the late
1960s, the entrepreneurial Alan Bond was extending his property developments. His cornerstone project was perceived to be an outrageous proposal to develop nearly 20,000 acres of windswept Indian Ocean foreshore in the vicinity of Yanchep National Park; A satellite city comprising 200,000 people, involving the subdivision of 60,000 blocks of land and the infusion of $250 million-to be called Sun City.

By January 1972, 70 brick and tile houses were under construction. The houses were architect designs constructed
by A.V. Jennings for the Bond Corporation. Yanchep Sun City was marketed as a holiday and retirement Mecca, complete with boating marina, resort and golf course.

Alan Bond announced Yanchep Sun City as the venue for the 1977 America's Cup challenge and the training base for 'Southern Cross' the 1974 Australian challenger for the Cup.

When the Labour Government planned to rationalise the coastal strip Bond talked-up his Sun City developments and liased with a Japanese partner:Tokyo Corporation. The Two Rocks Marina at Yanchep Sun City was constructed in 1974, but by then Yanchep land and homes had stopped selling. Bond announced a world cup for 12 metre yachts, to be held at the Yanchep Sun City's Two Rocks Marina in 1976, and another America's Cup challenge. The Two Rocks Town Centre development was completed. By 1977, the credit squeeze, which
began in 1973, finally caught up with Alan Bond, and Tokyo Corporation purchased the controlling share of Yanchep Sun City, and became outright owners.

During the 1980s, the Alantis Marine Park proved a successful venture at Yanchep Sun City. Although it subsequently closed, King Neptune, a central figure of Alantis, is a landmark in Two Rocks.

In 1983, Alan Bond's 'Australia II' won the America's Cup. It was a great day for Australia and Alan Bond, but too late to promote his vision of a satellite city at Yanchep Sun City.

These holiday homes are a distinctive and proud part of the Yanchep Sun City development, designed specifically for 'holiday or retirement' by Bond Corporation in the 1970s. Enjoy a slice of history!

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!!!
